I was honored to be one of the judges at the Eastside Battle of the Bands on Friday, March 18th at the Old Redmond Firehouse Teen Center, which benefited ArtsEd Washington and raised over $6,000 for public arts/music education in Washington State.
I had never been to the Firehouse and had no idea what to expect from the bands competing but as the show began, it was better than I could have imagined. I have no doubt that the future of music is bright! And, can I just tell you that this well-attended, positive and lovely event was completely produced by high schoolers.
The event was sponsored by Kinect for XBOX 360, Bellevue American Music, Bellevue Reporter, Bellevue School of Music, De Capo Photography, Donn Bennett Drum Studio, Moore Brothers Music and Varsity Student Institute.
Performers included: Stuck on a Bus, Jacob McCaslin and Roll the Credits, Fall By, Caboose, Dose of Redemption, Jeff & Ari, Rohan Waghani, Chase & Kyle, and Mint.
CONGRATULATIONS TO.....CABOOSE and runner-up Stuck on a Bus
P.S. I received a lovely handwritten thank you card from the organizers - icing on the cake!
